We all have our tried and tested ways of moisturising our precious bods. For some, lotion is the best solution. For me, come rain or shine, it’s on with the body cream. I can literally turn up at Boots with a wheelbarrow and ask them to ‘fill ‘er up’… until now that is! Body oils, where have you been all my life? In the last month of testing, I have come full circle on oils which previously I’d written off as too time-consuming, way too messy and just too, well, oily! Wrong! Modern body oils are ‘dry oils’ which melt into the skin leaving a glorious layer of loveliness behind. My skin now feels softer, healthier and just looks loads better. I’m a total convert! So for this month’s Beauty Box we have road-tested some brilliant body oils – I hope you’ll love them as much as I do.

The Body Shop, Beautifying Oil, Coconut, 100ml, £9

The Body Shop’s new Beautifying Oils are true multi-taskers. These little bottles of paradise are brimming with a combination of skin hydrating nut oils, which include Coconut and Namibian Marula.

This light-weight blend can be used on the body or the face, or pop a good sloosh in the bath for all over moisturisation and instant hydration. Follow ancient Indian beauty lore by massaging some oil into dry hair to give a conditioning boost to mid through to end sections.

What’s more, this product is great for air travel as you can keep skin hydrated and fragrant while you fly, plus the size meets the 100ml cut off. Beautifying oils also come in a huge range of mouth-watering scents. Choose from Satsuma, Strawberry, Pink Grapefruit, Sweet Lemon or Chocomania. Delicious!

And if you really love the smell of coconut try layering with Coconut Body Mist for a totally tropical experience. I loved this quick drying formula which left a silky sheen on the skin all day, especially great on legs. This will give you skin confidence, in an instant! The Organic Pharmacy, Rose & Jasmine Body Oil, 100ml, £32.95

The Organic Pharmacy just seem to get it right every time. Their Rose and Jasmine Body Oil is a richer, heavier quality than many others and can also be used for a sensual and rejuvenating massage (a friend who practices Swedish massage tried this oil on a client and reported that it was an excellent quality). A little of this blend goes a long way, so you use less of this than you would with a lighter oil, plus it comes in a handy plastic pump dispenser, so no nasty accidents with slippery hands. It contains the organic oils of Jojoba, St Johns Wort, Marigold and Carrot to condition, and Rose hip which is high in essential fatty acids; plus Vitamin A to replenish and revitalise the skin. The rose and jasmine fragrance lifts the senses and leaves behind a lovely feeling of wellbeing. All this and super-soft gleamy skin too – bliss in a bottle!

For a perfect pre-body oil treat why not bring the spa experience into your bathroom with The Organic Pharmacy’s ‘Cleopatra’s Scrub’ – she was after all one lady who knew just how to do some serious ‘me time’. This sugar and salt scrub removes dead skin, improves circulation, detoxifies and moisturizes all in one. Or try ‘Cleopatra’s Milk Bath’, two scoops of this milky magic and you’ll be floating in essential oils and rose petals like an Egyptian queen. Don’t you deserve that? Best for organic quality and ideal as a massage oil too www.theorganicpharmacy.com

Mama Mio O Mega Body Oil, 200ml, £23.00

‘So Long Lizard Legs’ is the motto of this must-have body oil of celebrity fans Jessica Alba, Jennifer Lopez and Stella McCartney. So what’s so special about O Mega Oil? The answer is quite a lot really! This super skin softener is created with safe for pregnancy oils specifically blended to be used by mums-to-be. ‘Burberry Body’ Body Oil, 85ml, £35

This exclusive body oil is part of the Burberry Body range and is a feast for the eyes as well as the nose. The glass bottle is shaped like a rock crystal, which makes it stand out from the crowd, and the peached paper packaging is elegant if not exactly bathroom friendly. The scent itself is pretty special in an understated and elegant way. A crisply feminine blend of peach, absinthe, freesia, rose, iris and sandalwood. This is a fragrance which just lasts and lasts. I kept getting wonderful wafts of freshness all day long and I noticed my skin had a lovely healthy sheen, but wasn’t too ‘shiny shiny’.

I’d say this body oil spray has it all really: luxe looks, beautiful scent and natural moisturising oils, which make your skin look and feel gorgeous. Top up with an extra skoosh of oil in the evening and you’ll be good to glow on a night out, or layer with the Eau de Parfum for some intense va va voom! Best for amazing fragrance!www.uk.burberry.com
