Bobbi Brown Nude Glow Collection – Spring 2014
This has to be one of my all-time favourite Bobbi Brown Collections designed especially for daywear – to me, it screams understated elegance. The Nude Glow Collection has been designed to brighten and enhance your skin tone and it certainly does that.
If you’re looking for a big hit of colour, then move on. However, if you’re looking for a subtle, natural, stunning everyday look, then search no further.
This collection comprises three Nude Glow Sheer Lip Colours (£19 each) in Pink Flush (my favourite), Pink Glow and Pink Rose – oh so pretty! Sheer, lightweight, glossy lipsticks which are buttery soft, beautifully moisturising and give a good hit of colour; not as sheer as I thought they’d be, but they are lovely flattering shades.
Three Eyeshadow Palettes (£35 each) in Crystal (designed for extra light to light skin tones), Nude (designed for medium skin tones) and Bronze (designed for medium to dark skin tones) however, I think all three would suit the majority of skin colours.
They contain a combination of matte, soft shimmer and sparkling textures and can be worn as single shades, or combined to create your own individual look which really opens up the eyes. I tried the Nude Eyeshadow Palette which is an quad containing two matte shades – Dove Grey and Nude, and two Sparkle Eye Shadows in Ballet Pink and Cement.
They’re timeless, classic and elegant and really make the colour of your iris’s pop! I’ve read comments in the blogosphere about lack of colour payoff and fallout of the sparkle eyeshadows; my word of advice (for what it’s worth) is that it’s all about how you apply it!
Use a decent brush designed for the job & tap the excess off before applying. The collection also contains three Nude Glow Nail Polishes (£19 each) in Ballet Pink Glitter, Bronze Shimmer and Pale – all designed to be worn alone or layered up; and three Brightening Finishing Powders (£40 each) in Brightening Nudes, Bronze Glow, and Porcelain Pearl (which I had when they originally came out, and completely adored.)
I need; yes, need, to get my hands on the Brightening Nudes colourway, but I tested out Bronze Glow (which I honestly didn’t think I’d like on my skin tone; I thought it would be too sparkly and dark on my complexion) however, it is super flatting and gives the most beautiful healthy glow without looking overdone or orange; love it, love it, love it and will be replenishing stocks once this one runs out.
The Brightening Finishing Powders are sophisticated, sleek compacts containing six luminous shades which, when swirled together with a bronzing brush, brighten and illuminate the skin giving a beautiful healthy glow. They can be be used anywhere you want to give a little luminosity such as cheeks, eyelids, forehead, decolléte and collarbones.
These were released for Spring 2014, but I for one will be using them all year round.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush
“Discover a new way to blush: this groundbreaking hybrid combines the customised lighting effects of Ambient Lighting Powder with a spectrum of breathtakingly modern hues. The result is seamless, soft-focus and multidimensional colour.”
I have been drooling over this little beauty ever since I heard about their launch a couple of weeks ago. They have been much-hyped in the beauty blogosphere and, true to form, I just had to get my hands on one (or maybe two).
Ambient Lighting Blushes are very tactile, sleek bronze compacts containing a cushion of pressed powder; the blush and Ambient Lighting powder are swirled together so they look like the most beautiful marbles – every single compact is completely individual.
Sweep a blush brush over the pan and blend over cheekbones to create a radiant wash of colour; flattering, long-lasting, glowy blush with a subtle hint of shimmer. These blushes are buildable, so you can create a soft daytime look, or layer it up for more drama in the evening. It was so difficult to choose which shade to go for as they are all absolutely stunning; in the end I went for Luminous Flush; “a champagne rose blush fused with Luminous Light to evoke a candlelit glimmer.”
They are available in 5 other shades and to tell you the truth, I’d have been happy with any all of them, however my budget would only stretch to one! Radiant Magenta; a golden fuchsia blush combined with Radiant Light for a summer glow, Ethereal Glow; a cool pink blush infused with Ethereal Light for a moonlight luminosity, Mood Exposure; A soft plum blush fused with Mood Light to brighten the complexion, Dim Infusion; A subdued coral blush fused with Dim Light to add warmth and Diffused Heat; a vibrant poppy blush combined with Diffused Light for a subtle halo effect.
I bought mine from www.liberty.co.uk for £28, but they’ve also just launched in Space NK and net-a-porter.com. If you’re interested in getting your paws on one of these, my advice would be to move quick; they’ve only just launched and I predict they’re going to be a sellout!
