Zelens Triple-Action Advanced Eye Cream, £75

This brand was created by reconstructive plastic surgeon Dr Marko Lens who is also an expert in skin ageing and skin cancer; the Triple-Action Advanced Eye Cream has been a bestseller since its creation.

The claims it makes have been backed up by evidence from clinical trials on women aged between 30 and 60 over a period of four weeks.

This Triple-Action Eye Cream contains a cocktail of potent active ingredients; powerful peptides; probiotic complex to protect the skin from UV damage; Glycokines to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, Hyaluronic acid to restore the skins moisture; Marine collagen to moisturise and plump the skin; antioxidant Vitamin E; Caffeine to help reduce the appearance of dark circles and puffiness; along with Zelens’ unique botanical blend which has soothing, toning and regenerative properties.

If you’ve been looking for a really good, highly effective all round eye cream, then look no further.  This is a great multitasking product which will help to minimise puffiness & dark circles, firm skin & smooth fine lines and wrinkles.  It’s a lovely, light product to use with a gorgeous soft creamy gel texture which sinks in quickly, smoothing away fine lines;  it instantly helped my eyes look less tired and crepey and creating a perfect base for makeup.  This is my first foray into the world of Zelens skincare and I’m desperate to try more!  Yep, it’s an expensive product, but worth it for the results.

Alpha-H Instant Facial with Cypress & Barley, £33

Alpha-H’s latest release, Instant Facial, has been described as ‘Botanical Brilliance in a Bottle’.   This is a highly-concentrated product which contains AHAs;  a milder form of glycolic acid than in Alpha-H’s cult Liquid Gold.

It contains 93% plant extracts including Cypress, Thyme, Barley, Malt and Arnica Flowers which help to even out skintone, reduce redness and clear imperfections. It works by hydrating and exfoliating; sweeping away dead skin cells to reveal soft, fresh, bright looking skin, enabling serums and moisturisers to become more effective.

Use after cleansing morning and evening in place of your regular toner; spray onto a cotton wool pad and sweep over the skin, avoiding the delicate eye area.  I found this product quite strong on my skin; instead of a mild tingling sensation, I experienced sharp little needles!

However, a few days after I started using Instant Facial, my skin looked so much clearer, smoother & brighter; pores were smaller and fine lines diminished leaving my skin revitalised with a lovely healthy, radiant glow. It will definitely be remaining as part of my skincare arsenal!  When using acid products on your skin, ensure you use a good SPF every day as your skin can become a little more sensitive to the sun.

Pure Lochside Organic Orange Cleansing Oil, £20

This is an award winning, luxurious cleansing oil from premium Scottish spa brand Pure Lochside.  It’s a beautiful golden oil with the gorgeous scent of bittersweet oranges; it contains 95% organic ingredients including oils of Jojoba, Sesame, Apricot Kernel, Orange, Petigrain and Mandarin, and is enriched with Vitamin E and Omegas 6 & 9.  It can be used as a regular cleansing oil to remove make-up and gently cleanse, without stripping the skin of its natural oils or, as a gentle pre cleanse.

It’s safe enough to use on the delicate eye area where it removes stubborn mascara without the need to rub, plus it doesn’t irritate or leave a film on the eyes.  I’ve been using it to remove makeup in the evenings; you don’t need to use much, only about five splashes, so this bottle will last me a good long time.

Apply to damp skin and massage in to remove makeup and grime (it can be applied onto dry skin, but seems to go much further & its easier to remove makeup with the skin moistened first), then wipe off using a warm, damp washcloth.  After use, my skin is left silky smooth and perfectly clean, calm and comforted.  I enjoyed using this oil, however, similar to my column on body oils, I just wish this product came with a pump dispenser.

Rodial Glamsticks, Tinted Lip Butter with hyaluronic acid spheres, £25

Rodial’s Glamsticks are basically super cool lip tints with a lot of extra va va voom!  They come in the most gorgeous clear perspex cases and the bullet itself has the most delicious, fresh coconutty scent.

Enriched with Hyaluronic Acid Spheres to provide immediate moisturisation and vitamin E to soften and nourish, they leave your lips with a pop of colour and a sheer, glossy finish.   These lip butters are so comfortable to wear and have a good colour payoff, but still leave lips smooth & supple.  The colour doesn’t last terribly long, but they do leave the lips feeling soft and nourished; perfect for the summer months. Available in 9 scrumptious shades, I tried Thrill; a beigey, browny nude and my favourite, ‘Revenge’ an outrageous hot pink!
