This month I’ve been trying Facial Masks… here’s what I thought. Why not follow me on Twitter; @TaraYMB to hear more about my latest beauty finds and to let me know if there are any products that you’d like me to try before you buy!

ORICO

Skin Brunch

Kukui Rejuvenating Mask

yummymummybeauty rating 4.6

£24 for 125ml

12 mth shelf life

From www.debenhams.com

What they say; “Sumptuous skin treatment. Skin Brunch Kukui Rejuvenating Mask is vitamin-rich and packed with rejuvenating anti-oxidant Kukui seed rich in EFA’s to give skin a nutritious boost of radiance. Essential oils relax and restore the glow on the face. Extra nourishing organic face mask with Macadamia, Mango and Coconut oils for full moisturisation.”

What we think; This is a kaolin (china clay) based, thick, white mask which has a lovely fruity scent. It is suitable for all skin types and can be used up to three times weekly. This creamy mask should be applied to cleansed skin, avoiding lip and eye contour areas and left on for 15 minutes. Because it’s a clay-based mask, it does dry out on the skin and crack (my boys found this highly amusing!)

Remove gently using a warm, damp Washii and voila, an instantly radiant and nourished complexion; my pores looked as if they’d shrunk a little and fine lines appear plumped. Skin is left soft and hydrated due to the Macadamia and Coconut oils; restored, plumped and revitalised by the Hawaiian antioxidant rich Kukui Seed Oil which is rich in essential fatty acids. This is a fabulous mask for nourishing skin which has been abused by the elements; I loved testing it out and am keen to try more of Orico’s products – I just hope they’re all as gorgeous as this one!

RODIAL

Super Acids

X-treme Hangover Mask

yummymummybeauty rating 4.5

£45  for 75ml

6 mth shelf life

From www.debenhams.com

What they say; “A triple action resurfacing clay mask to deeply cleanse, exfoliate and restore a healthy looking complexion. Pronalen™ fruit acids gently exfoliate and retexture whilst age-defying laracare® and argireline® hexapeptide help to minimise the appearance of fine lines for skin that appears lifted with improved tone and texture. Beneficial biotilys® probiotic technology helps strengthen and protect skin from daily external aggressions by boosting hydration. The perfect post-party recovery mask to revitalise skin.”

What we think; Rodial’s Super Acids X-treme Hangover Mask is another clay based mask designed for the morning after the night before, to moisturise dehydrated skin, slough away dead skin cells and draw out impurities. This is a thick, pistachio green mask with a delicious fresh scent. It can be used once a week and should be applied to clean skin and left to dry for 5 minutes, although for some reason this took about 15-20 minutes on me!

To remove, rub gently with fingertips so the clay comes off in little rolls, then take off any residue with a warm, damp cloth. The first huge improvement I noticed was how beautifully hydrated my skin felt; it was super soft to the touch & my fine lines had been smoothed away. My skin was left feeling refreshed and gorgeously tingly, vibrant and glowing with health. Perfect after a heavy night out on the town to restore a glowing complexion!

BLISS

Triple Oxygen Instant Energising Mask

yummymummybeauty rating 4.1

£42  for 100ml

12 mth shelf life

From www.blissworld.co.uk

What they say; “Bliss Triple Oxygen Energising Mask is a fast-acting foamy face mask that brightens, tightens and revives dull, sallow skin. Why it works; ⋅Fluid 02 technology delivers glow-giving oxygen to skin. Engineered as a stand-in for our spa’s world famous facial. ⋅Brightens, lightens, and tightens the skin with the most active powerful form of Vitamin C available. Protects cells from free radical damage with powerful antioxidants.”

What we think; Bliss’s Triple Oxygen Energising Mask comes in one of those double skinned pump containers (my pet hate as you have no idea how much product you have left). The mask itself is a peachy, citrus scented gel and is marketed as a ‘super-quick-fix for dull, tired skin.’ The instructions state that you should massage a generous amount of the mask (I used 10 pumps) onto damp skin and to leave for 5 minutes; during this time, the gel will foam up over your face – I found this incredibly tickly!

After a few minutes the bubbles will start to subside and disappear; remove any residue with a damp wash cloth. After use, my skin felt soft, smoothed and perfectly hydrated. It seemed to perk up my skin leaving it with a lovely healthy glow. Unlike some of the other masks I tried, the effect of this mask lasted a relatively short time in comparison with others, however it was nice to use for a short-term quick fix.

OSKIA

Renaissance Mask

yummymummybeauty rating 4.9

£48.50 for 50ml

6 mth shelf life

From www.oskiaskincare.com

What they say; “Nutri-Active Brightening and Resurfacing Mask with MSM, Passionfruit AHAs, Papaya Enzymes, Swiss Garden Cress Liposomes & Ribose. Designed to increase cell turnover and packed with OSKIA’s trademark blend of beauty-boosting nutrients, this luxuriously-textured exfoliating mask leaves the complexion smooth, refined and illuminated. Suitable for all skin types and with a fresh aromatic scent combining rose, passion fruit and chamomile, all organically certified, OSKIA Renaissance Mask works hard to remove tired skin cells and increase cell regeneration without aggressively stripping the top layers of the epidermis.”

What we think; This product is a peachy, glycerine based balm which has a delicious floral scent. Suitable for all skin types, it should be applied to clean skin and massaged until it turns white; then leave for 10 – 15 minutes.

The mask is warm, soothing and nourishing on your face & feels like its quenching your skins thirst; it doesn’t dry during the time you’re using it, but remains like a thick comforting balm on your skin. It is easily removed with a damp muslin cloth, where it turns into a beautifully soft, milky cleanser.

Used a couple of times a week, the Renaissance mask refines and rejuvenates your skin leaving it clear and bright with a real glow about it. This mask is expensive, but it is a truly luxe, and very effective product; you only need to use a little and therefore it would last a good, long time. Definitely my favourite of the bunch.
