This autumn it’s all about smoky eyes, but what to do when you’re like me and your best efforts leave you looking like a panda caught in the rain? There’s a simple answer: a trip to your nearest Bobbi Brown counter for a quick lesson.

Armed with the gorgeous Smoky Eye Palette, I can achieve a subtle look for daytime with the velvety-rich shades and plenty more oomph for a night out with a bit of grown-up sparkle.
Super sleek, the mirror compact handily includes a dual ended shadow and liner brush for expert application on the go. Bobbi Brown Smoky Eye Palette, £37.50, from
Roger & Gallet Fleur de Figuier shower cream and body lotion, £9.50
For a beauty junkie like me, nothing beats the instant hit I get from a wander around a Marks & Spencer beauty hall. Jam-packed with everything from must-have cult products and French pharmacy favourites to niche brands, it really is paradise.
I’m currently loving the Roge r& Gallet Fleur de Figuier shower cream and body lotion.
The fresh and indulgent fragrance is the perfect way to start the day. Inspired by the delicious fruit that grows near the mountains of Esterel in Provence , it is a million miles away from a rainy Monday morning in Blighty.

BareMinerals Bring on the Night Collection, £45
I’m not usually a fan of boxed make-up sets, they always look really enticing but when I get down to the nitty gritty of using the products, half of the colours don’t really suit me and it’s all a bit of a let down.
Not with this perfectly put-together package. There are eight full-size products, from a Marvellous Moxie Lipgloss in a very wearable candied pink to pink blush, glittering indigo and bronze eye colours, mascara, Mineral Veil finishing powder and a face brush.
The best thing is it costs £45, pretty amazing when the products all add up to a total value of £138. Better start Christmas shopping soon, Santa, I hear these kits are flying off the shelves. BareMinerals Bring on the Night Collection, £45, from www.bareminerals.co.uk
