Estee Lauder Pure Colour Envy Sculpting Lipstick, £24

When you need a perfectly polished look, a lip gloss just doesn’t cut it: they have a place in everyone’s make-up bag but sometimes they’re just too shiny, too carefree and too laidback.

For a confidence boost that only a grown-up slick of lip colour will give, enter the new range of lipsticks from Estee Lauder.

According to the brand’s creative make-up director Tom Pecheux, lipstick makes women feel sexy, confident and powerful. That’s a lot to ask for from a £24 coloured bullet but in this case it certainly does the job.

The saturated colour is highly pigmented but that doesn’t mean these lippies are matte and drying when you apply them. They are packed with hydration, which means the creamy smooth texture lasts all day long.

There are 20 colours to choose from so there is certainly a shade for everyone, whatever your skintone or preference. My particular favourites are Impulsive and Powerful from the pink to berry tones, complementary to pale skin.

The colour promises to stay true for up to six hours. You might quibble with that if you’re eating and drinking but what’s not to like about reapplying when it comes in the shape of this impressively chic packaging? I love the reassuring click the magnetic top makes when it closes – no more makeup bag disasters.

For the complete look, Estee Lauder also has limited edition Pure Colour Envy Nail Lacquers in five shades, £14.40 for a glossy shine.

Take a trip to the nearest Bobbi Brown counter if your make-up bag needs a spring overhaul.

It’s hard to resist the zingy, mouthwatering shades in the Nectar and Nude collection with colours for eyes, cheeks, nails and lips, from £11.

I’ve been wearing the Nail Polish in Nectar, a warm orangey-peach, to brighten up my days. Match it with the Nectar limited edition Lip Gloss and a pop of Pot Rouge for Lip & Cheeks in Hibiscus.

The Nectar & Nude Eye Palette has six very wearable shades from delicate shimmering nectars to soft taupes and rich browns to define and line that will take you from day to night.

Liz Earle Indulgent Bath & Body Collection, from £12.50

For a shower time treat, try one of the three fragrances in the brand new Liz Earle Indulgent Bath & Body Collection.

The clue is in the name – the scents are incredibly indulgent and make you feel fab even if you’re only doing the school run or sitting in an office all day.

Layer the Creamy Shower Nectar and Silky Body Lotion for a blissful smell that lasts a lot longer than many perfumes.

Created by master perfumers from skin-loving botanicals these are real feelgood fragrances.

Choose from Tiare & Jasmine, infused with Tahitian tiare petals and jasmine, there are notes of orange blossom and sandalwood; Bergamot & Ginger is fresh and citrusy with freesia, lily of the valley and lemon blossom as well as warming ginger; and Vanilla & Saffron has water lotus and gardenia, white orchid and Madagascan vanilla.

London Rain collection from Jo Malone London, £82

A perfume selection guaranteed to put a spring in your step even if it is bucketing down outside. There are four very different scents to choose from, from really traditional to more contemporary.

I’m liking the White Jasmine & Mint, with jasmine, orange flower and rose and a dash of mint. It’s uplifting and refreshing, perfect for spritzing on before heading out the door in the morning.

Black Cedarwood & Juniper is darker and more masculine with cumin, juniper and cedarwood, blended with chilli leaves and moss.

There’s a real nostalgic feel to Wisteria & Violet with water lily, wisteria and patchouli notes.

And Rain & Angelica has notes of vetiver, herbaceous angelica and rain accord mixed with juicy lime.
