Elie Saab, Le Parfum, Eau de Parfum, 30ml, £38
yummymummybeauty rating 4.5
Couturier Elie Saab, has created the Eau de Parfum version of his signature fragrance and ‘tres chic’ it is too. This very special sultry floral is housed in a bottle designed to mirror vintage crystal flacons. I have to admit to being a teeny bit (well ok, bordering on the madly obsessively) in love with Elie’s fragrances. Notes of opulent Orange Blossom and Rose Honey are blended with Egyptian Jasmine Absolute and the delicious woods of Patchouli and Cedar are simply too lovely for words. If you wear this intoxicating scent, people will ask you what you’re wearing. Be prepared for a barrage of compliments!
Psst! Catch the new Elie Saab ‘Le Parfum Intense’, at Selfridges and Harvey Nichols from June 24 and nationwide from August 19. ‘Intense’ is created with Orange Blossom, Ylang Ylang, Rose Honey, Patchouli Accord and Amber, 30ml, £40 – Me first! Me first! www.debenhams.com
Jimmy Choo FLASH, Eau de Parfum, 40ml, £36
yummymummybeauty rating 4.3
Step out in a waft of sweet, chic elegance with Jimmy Choo’s FLASH. This, the second perfume from iconic London label Jimmy Choo, was created by the team at JC to provide the perfect accessory to their edgy cork wedges (shoe envy at 12 o’clock!) or fabulous signature clutch.
FLASH is a solar floral, based on a bouquet of white flowers: Lily, Tuberose and Jasmine. Deliciously fruity notes of Pink Pepper, Strawberry and Tangerine are added as middle notes, finally revealing the soft woody sweetness of Heliotrope. The aroma is surprisingly light and feminine, but with a distinct hint of seduction. The stunning faceted bottle and cap, inspired by 1970’s crystal chandeliers, is designed to create drama and sparkle on the dressing table.
Perhaps not as lingering as the original ‘Jimmy Choo’ fragrance, but a beautiful scent for luminous days and sophisticated nights. In a poll, my family loved this one and voted this one top.
Calling all Yummy Mummy Beauty readers, why not try FLASH for free! A FREE sample of Flash Eau De Parfum will be included with all full size Flash Eau De Parfum orders at Debenhams! JO LOVES, Orange Tulle, 30ml & 100ml, from £45
yummymummybeauty rating 4.8
Jo has created a delicious smorgasbord of eight vibrant fragrances: the fresh and sparkling Pomelo; Green Orange & Coriander, cleanly citrus and herby; Gardenia, rich and creamily enveloping; Pink Vetiver, spicy, earthy and intoxicating, and the marvellous Mango Collection, a pure Mango Nectar, plus twin fragrances: A Shot of Thai Lime over Mango and the award-winning A Shot of Oud over Mango.
My absolute favourite from the collection is the softly floral Orange Tulle. A beautiful citrus blend of Orange Flower, Mandarin and Neroli. Jo notes that this fragrance is fun and flirty, inspiring feelings of frivolity and youthfulness, and it certainly makes me feel like swishing about in something gauzy to do it justice!
The wonderful thing about the JO LOVES… range is that it brings back excitement and spontaneity to perfume shopping, as Jo sets that bar way up there, leaving many other brands smelling, in my opinion, perhaps a tad soulless. The fragrances, layered candles and gift collections are currently available online and by appointment at Jo’s London showroom, however, this is all about to change as the very first JO LOVES… store will be opening its doors in September 2013 on Elizabeth Street in London’s Belgravia. Soon to be a must-visit store, I’m counting the days… www.joloves.com
Narciso Rodriquez, For her L’eau, Eau de Toilette, 50ml, £46
yummymummybeauty rating 4.2
Influential New York City based designer Narciso Rodriquez brings us the L’eau version of his Narciso original Musc. No fuss or gimmicks here, the design brief is all about minimal lines and simplicity, embodied in a sheath glass bottle with a core of pretty pastel pink.
Unusually, for an Eau version, there are no citrus or green influences included here, making this a floral but one with a modern crisp twist. The subtle combination of Sweet Poet’s Jasmine, Cyclamen, Pink Peony, Rose and Lily of the Valley, produces an enigmatic and symphonic sensual delight.
For her L’eau will leave scented tendrils in your wake, as you saunter in the sunshine. Lingeringly lovely! www.debenhams.com
