As it’s nearly Christmas, I need absolutely no encouragement to go out and buy some new eyeshadows just in time for the start of the party season. There are plenty of pretty ones out there, but these two limited edition collections in particular caught my eye.
Bellini Lip & Eye Palette, £59
“Our toast-of-the-town collection features an array of colors for lips and eyes – all in a mirrored compact. Ten eye shadows in mix-and-match textures create shimmering, light-catching looks.
A quartet of lip gloss colors completes the bubbly mood by adding glittery depth and high shine to lips. Includes mini Lip Brush and Eye Shadow Brush.”
Tara says: “This is a beautiful, double-decked compact which opens out to reveal 10 pretty eyeshadows and four lipglosses, complete with two brushes; one for eyeshadows and the other for lips. The eyeshadows are:
Navajo: Matte creamy pinkish white; Candlelight Gold Metallic: Shimmery golden taupe; Petal Shimmer Wash: Light pink; Cement: Matte grey beige; Prosecco: Shimmer neutral pink; Truffle: Matte mid-tone grey pink; Bellini Shimmer Wash: Golden peach; Bronze Stone Shimmer Wash: Pale golden brown; Brown Sugar Metallic: Shimmering brown mauve; Caviar: Matte black brown.
And the Lip Glosses are:
Bubble Bath: Medium pink; Chrome Pink Shimmer: Shimmering silver pink mauve; Bellini Glitter: Warm shimmering pink; Bare Glitter: Pale peach with golden sparkle.
“This is a pretty, every day palette with a good selection of ‘blendable’ colours, giving you endless options; some of the colours have appeared in previous BB palettes – Navajo and cement to name but two.
They are light on the pigment front and so, create more of a delicate colour wash; apart from Caviar which has a good depth of colour.
However, they are easy to build, especially if you use a sponge-tipped applicator. Go carefully as there will be some fallout on your cheeks and around your eyes if you use the eyeshadow brush; this seems to happen less if you use a sponge tipped applicator.
“The colour will last especially well over a good eyeshadow primer; I swear by Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion.
“The lip Glosses are lovely and delicate, but again, they are light in pigment and don’t look dramatically different from one other once applied; layered over your favourite lipstick will give you a more dramatic look with a greater depth of colour – the possibilities are endless!”
Rich Caviar Eye Palette, £42
“With six mix-and-match shades this eye palette truly strikes it rich. Featuring everything you need to take eyes from day to night including Bobbi’s beloved base shadow in Bone and the palette’s namesake shade in Rich Caviar.
“Complimentary colors include metallic and sparkle textures, perfect for building intensity. A Mini Dual Ended Shadow/Liner brush completes the set-all it needs now is a bow.”
Tara says: “A stunning collection of very flattering neutral and greeny/brown based colours, perfect for creating chic day looks to smoky, sophisticated evening looks. The eyeshadows included in this palette are:
Bone – Matte creamy off-white; Candlelight Metallic – Mid tone shimmering gold; Wheat Eye Shadow – Matte ash beige; Olive Sparkle – Olive brown sparkle; Black Topaz Metallic – Greeny brown shimmer; Rich Caviar – Deep matte espresso. Includes a mini Dual Ended-Eye Shadow/Eyeliner Brush.
“These gorgeous eyeshadows are smooth and easily ‘blendable’ and seem to have more pigmentation and staying power than in some of Bobbi Brown’s Eye Palettes.
“There are a great variety of textures and finishes so you can create any type of look – the options are endless. These velvety smooth shadows can be used dry with a brush, finger or sponge tipped applicator, or wet for a real hit of colour.
“Rich Caviar and Olive Sparkle are great when used with a wet brush as an eye liner for a perfect Christmassy matte/sparkle combo, or dry to create an elegant sultry eyed look. Again, take care with fallout, especially with the Olive Sparkle as it’s difficult to remove from the cheeks once there!”
