January is the time of year when most clients are unhappy with their hair. The first day I was back in the salon after the Christmas break, I had many clients looking for re-styles.
Many were new clients who were looking for a fresh approach to their hairstyle and others were existing clients who needed something that was going to be easy to keep and handle.
So many of my clients especially parents which is 90 per cent of my clientele ask for a nice hair cut that is still easy to tie back! WHY?
Why should I spend time and more importantly, you spend money creating an amazing hair cut, and an amazing accessory to your style just so you can tie it back in a ponytail, which to be honest will be most of the time. You know I’m right.
Being a parent myself, I know how difficult it is with school runs, after school activities, play dates etc, the list goes on and many of you just don’t have time to spend on our own appearance, unfortunately it’s usually your hair that is the last priority in your routine hence the “ponytail “. (Although Hollywood star Jennifer Aniston, pictured right, can rock the look – but we live in the real world, don’t we?)
My aim is to convince you “yummy mummies“ that you can have amazing hair in the time it takes you to tie it up in a bobble. All it takes is healthy hair, the right products and most importantly a good cut and colour.
It doesn’t matter if your hair is long, short, straight, wavy or curly, with the correct layering technique that suits your hair type, there should be no need for endless blow drying and straightening irons as this will just dry your hair out. A good hair cut will ensure your hair falls to its natural movement, which at the moment is the current trend.
Colour is also an important aspect to your hair. Again a lot of my clients find it difficult to take time out regularly to maintain hair colour which is why I recommend ombré, more subtle dip dye – a gorgeous look. With these options, your hair cut will enhance the effect of colour and will grow out very discreetly over a long period of time and then only a touch up is needed to freshen it up again.
Now let’s talk about the health of your hair. The main problem most women have in regards to not straightening hair is frizz. Kerastraight has introduced a 30-day conditioning treatment that takes only 30 minutes to achieve luscious, shiny, fizz free hair. Label m intensive mask is an intensive conditioning treatment that can be used twice a week after your normal shampoo, it repairs and moisturises dry damaged hair. This is the biggest seller in our salon.
Please also remember that beauty does come from within. January is also the time of year when most of us begin our “fad diets” these are no good for our hair as like the rest of our body, our hair needs nutrition. Some of the ingredients we should be adding to our diets are: IRON – will enhanced hair growth; OMEGA 3 FATS – will moisturise your hair and scalp and prevent a dry scalp; ZINC – is beneficial for brittle and thinning hair; BIOTIN and VITAMIN B COMPLEX – will strengthen hair, prevent excessive hair loss and will moisturise your hair and scalp.
Follow my tips and look yummy this January… till next month.
