Retexturizing Face Primer SPF 20 (£20.50)
Another of Daniel Sandler’s top selling products is this silicone based Retexturizing Face Primer. Its a transparent gel primer, complete with the added bonus of a medium strength SPF (I wouldn’t rely on this as your only sun defense, but at least gives you a little protection; always use a dedicated SPF after your moisturiser and before your primer.) This clear, silky soft gel blends invisibly onto the skin leaving your face velvety soft; fine lines are smoothed out, pores minimised and blemishes blurred creating a flawless base for makeup application. Suitable for all skin types, this Face Primer is comfortable & lightweight to wear, is non greasy and doesn’t dry my skin out like some other silicone based products do. Foundation blends quickly & easily over the Retexturizing Face Primer leaving you with the most beautiful finish; almost like your skin has been airbrushed. Perfect! Aromatherapy Associates Inner Strength Bath & Shower Oil
I’m not quite sure why, but this is the first product I’ve ever tried from Aromatherapy Associates. Its a very personal blend of oils created by Aromatherapy Associates’ founder Geraldine Howard whilst she was having treatment for cancer. Incidentally, 10% of the proceeds from sales of this product go to the Defense against Cancer Foundation; another great reason to go out & try it.
This product is a soothing blend of clary sage, frankincense, cardamom (one of my all time favourite smells), rosemary, geranium and vetiver. To me, it smells very relaxing, restorative & healing and has that herbally type smell that feels like its actually doing you some good! This is a soothing and uplifting blend of beautifully indulgent oils to help us deal with daily stresses & strains of our everyday lives. Use it to create your very own spa in your own home; for a restorative bath, add to running water, relax & inhale the uplifting aromas, or smooth onto damp skin & rinse off in the shower. Skin is left luxuriously soft, smooth and beautifully moisturised and the heavently scent lingers lovingly on your body all day. £39 for 55ml from www.aromatherapyassociates.com
Samantha Chapman Real Techniques Brushes
I’ve gone all silly over these fantastic quality, very affordable makeup brushes recently and am slowly adding to my collection! Created by Samantha Chapman of Pixiwoo fame, they are colour coded to represent different stages in makeup application; Gold are brushes for applying your base and foundation, pink focuses on finishing off your look with powder, blush or bronzer, and purple is for enhancing and adding definition to eyes. They perform a lot better than many of the super expensive brushes currently on the market and are hand cut from from synthetic Taklon fibres, so they’re cruelty free which is a big bonus for me! I use a combination of these brushes every day; they travel well, wash brilliantly….and still don’t shed! Probably the ones I reach for most are the Stippling Brush (£11.99) – perfect for applying cream or liquid blush or for blending foundation flawlessly; the Expert Face Brush (£9.99) – for seamless application of liquid or cream foundations leaving you with a perfectly airbrushed finish; the Setting Brush (£8.99) – for highlighters or powder blush; the Powder Brush (£12.99) for loose powder, compact powder foundation or setting powder. The Fine Liner Brush (£6.99) is perfect for precise application of gel, cream or liquid liner for that perfect cats eye look. Without a doubt, this is the best liner brush I’ve ever used! Some of these brushes are available individually, others only as part of a set; however, they are all great value and worth every penny. Available from www.boots.com
