Do you envy Cara Delevingne’s eyebrows – do you yearn for fuller, thicker looking brows that stay in place and don’t stray? The shape of our brows frame the face; they can really alter the structure of your face and give it a bit of a lift – when groomed properly, they finish off your look perfectly. For brows that wow, search no further; we’ve been testing out Brow Mascaras for you this month!

MAC Brow Set – £13 for 8g

yummymummybeauty rating 4.4

What they say; “ Slick! Strokes on. Adds shine, style, grooming, overall wow! to the brows. A brush-on gel that grooms and slicks brows into shape without flaking or stiffening the brows. Available in several tinted shades or clear, it can be used on its own, or for a nice natural look stroke over Brow Pencil. May also be used on lashes, sideburns, and chops – any facial hair.“

What we think; Brow Set comes in clear ‘mascara’ type tube which is brilliant as you can see the exact colour of the product and how much you have left; I wish all regular mascaras came in packaging like this! The brush is a good sized, lightly tapered bristle brush; not too big, not too small, so it’s easy to use just on the brows without getting it all over your skin too.

I tried a shade called Beguile which is a ‘full-bodied taupe’; I’d call it more of a dark golden blonde, but it’s also available in clear and ‘Show-off‘ which is a rich brown. This is a great product for taming wayward brows and for adding definition, especially if they’re very pale, thin or patchy. It glides on easily and helps to shape brows perfectly, feeling very natural to wear and leaving eyebrows soft, rather than hard, crispy and flakey.

I have a tendency to pick any brow mascara off (sorry; not nice,) particularly if I’m bored, however, if left on, Brow Set lasts perfectly all day and is easily removed using your regular cleanser. From

Maybelline BROWdrama Sculpting Brow Mascara – £4.99 for 7.6ml

yummymummybeauty rating 4.6

What they say; Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Mascara; our ultimate fashion finish for brows. Detailing ball brush and no streak, no clump formula.

What we think; This is an exciting new product from Maybelline, only released this month. BROWdrama is available in 3 shades; Medium Brown, Dark Brown and Dark Blond, which I tried.

It comes in a typical mascara type tube and has an eye catching ball style brush which uses Maybelline’s 360º Precision Technology to help cover each and every brow hair. This tinted brow gel applies smoothly with no clumping and leaves brows soft with no crunchiness or flakiness. Brush onto eyebrows using light upward strokes for tamed brows, helping to shape, contour and define, framing the eyes and face perfectly.

I thought I’d find BROWdrama difficult to use, but I really liked the shape of this brush and found it super easy to use especially when creating a very natural look which I prefer, rather than a heavy look. If you favour a bold, statement brow (à la Cara), try using a shade of brow mascara slightly darker than your brows in conjunction with an eyebrow pencil for even more depth of colour; or go for a more au naturelle look by using the shade closest to your own brow colour.

You can definitely feel that you have something on your eyebrows and this will probably take a little time to get used to, but this is a fantastic, high performing budget buy which will keep those bushy brows perfectly tamed. From

NARS Brow Gel – £16.50 for 7ml

yummymummybeauty rating 4.2

What they say; “A glossy, easy gliding gel to tame, tidy and groom eyebrows. A unique precision tapered brush adds shape and definition to every angle while creating a fuller, smoother brow look to perfectly set the symmetry of the face. Effortlessly elevate arches to new levels of artistry with a simple brush of the brows.

What we think; Brow Gel comes in typical sleek NARS packaging, in a tactile, matte black tube. It comes in a good range of colours – Kinshasa; a dark brown, Piraeus; a medium brown; Oural; a clear gel, and Athens, the one I tried – a light, golden brown which works well on blondes.

It has an unusual shaped bristle brush which is softly tapered with two flat edges. I found this slightly difficult to work with, particularly as the wand comes out loaded with far too much gel which you need to wipe down on the rim of the tube before use. The product itself is quite a wet tinted gel which takes a little while to dry, however, it does leave brows soft and not too firm; the hairs stay in place, but they’re still pliable – it doesn’t feel like you’ve got caterpillars stuck to your forehead!

Apply gently using light upward strokes and follow the natural arch of your brow; use alone for a natural look to enhance the shape and hold of your eyebrows to keep them beautifully groomed all day long, or use a darker shade than your natural brow, either with or without a brow pencil for a more dramatic look. By Terry Eyebrow Mascara – £26 for 4.5ml

yummymummybeauty rating 4.8

What they say; “This tinted eyebrow mascara is an essential tool that naturally shapes, corrects, fills in, sets and controls rebellious and irregular brows. The non-sticky formula, enriched with a filmogenic complex and gelling agents, offers the perfect balance between firm hold and suppleness. The transparent pigments, combined wit the styling brush, provide easy application and blended color to precisely sculpt and redefine eyebrows with a natural soft lasting finish.“

What we think; There has been a lot of publicity about this Eyebrow Mascara, so I was keen to test it and see whether it lived up to the hype! I tried By Terry’s Eyebrow Mascara in Highlight Blonde, however it is available in 3 other lovely natural shades to suit most people; Medium Ash, Sheer Auburn and Dark Brown; this is the only brand I came across which has a brow mascara specifically for blondes.

It comes in a neat little regal purple tube with a small barrel shaped brush, similar to a bottom lash mascara wand and is great for precision application. This product has a lovely soft gel formula which takes a couple of minutes to dry; the brush comes out heavily loaded, so you’ll need to wipe the wand against the neck of the tube before application.

This Eyebrow Mascara gives good hold and leaves a natural, slightly glossy finish; it helps to tame and enhance the shape and intensify the colour of your brows. It’s perfect for a natural finish which I favour, rather than a drawn on, or painted look. This was the most expensive brow gel I tried, for the least amount of product, nevertheless, it’s not going to be leaving my make-up bag in the future; it’s definitely a luxe product and one to go for if you feel in need of a splurge!
